# Missing or unavailable templates

> Find a purchased template, check version requirements, and install it correctly

Templates live in the Elixir dashboard at [app.ecomelixir.com/templates](https://app.ecomelixir.com/templates). If one you expect is not there, work through the checks below before assuming it is gone.

For installing a template you can already see, start with [Templates](/templates).

## Why a template is not showing

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the account">
    Sign in with the email used at purchase. A template bought under another address will not appear here. See [Invoices and billing](/guides/invoices-and-billing).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the order">
    Check that the order appears in your dashboard at all. If the order is missing, the account is the problem, not the template.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check what your purchase includes">
    Confirm the template is part of your license or was bought separately. Not every template is bundled with every purchase.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the version requirement">
    Templates state a minimum theme version. If your theme is older, update it first, see [Updating safely](/guides/update-recovery).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Refresh your session">
    Sign out, sign back in, and reload the templates page. Entitlements are read at sign-in and a stale session can hide a new purchase.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  If a template is not listed for anyone, it has not been released yet. Templates in development appear in the dashboard when they ship, and there is nothing to enable on your side.
</Note>

## Before you install

| Check | Why it matters |
| - | - |
| **Theme version** | Installing a template built for a newer version onto an older theme produces missing sections and broken layouts |
| **Backup** | Installing a template can replace the content of the page it targets |
| **Target page** | Confirm which page the template will apply to before you run the install |
| **Unpublished copy** | Install into an unpublished duplicate first if the store is live |

<Warning>
  A template install is not additive. It can overwrite what is already on the target page. Take a backup from **Online Store → Themes → ⋯ → Download theme file** first.
</Warning>

## After installing

A freshly installed template will not look identical to the demo, and that is expected. Templates ship with layout and settings, not with your catalog.

* **Images may be missing or generic.** Replace them with your own.
* **Products are not included.** Point product blocks at your own products.
* **Store-specific settings do not carry over.** Colors follow your brand palette where the sections use it. See [Set up your brand](/guides/branding).

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The template installed but the page looks broken">
    Check the theme version requirement first. A version mismatch is the usual cause of missing sections after a template install. Update the theme, then reinstall the template into a fresh copy.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The template replaced content I wanted to keep">
    Restore from your backup, or revert to the previous theme copy in the Theme Library. This is why installing into an unpublished duplicate is worth the extra minute.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I bought a template but it says I do not have access">
    Confirm the purchase account, then check whether the template was renamed or replaced by a newer version. If your order shows it but the dashboard does not, raise a ticket with the order number and template name.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The template is listed as beta or planned">
    Beta templates can change without notice and planned ones are not downloadable yet. Do not build a live page on a beta template without a rollback plan.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## If it is still not resolved

Collect these before opening a ticket:

* Order number and purchase email
* The exact template name
* A screenshot of your dashboard templates page
* Your current theme version
